Carissa “Car” Pelleteri is an American portrait and landscape photographer. She has been making photographs for over 20 years. Her most notable work, is about Montauk, New York.
Car’s first book titled, Surf+Turf: Montauk was self-published in 2014. Her second, most current book Montauk 11954, was published by Schiffer in 2018.
It features over 100 color photographs.
A native New Yorker, born and raised in Brooklyn,
Car started causally shooting portraits for fun at ten years young. Photographing a diverse palette of subjects from her life in the city feels innate.
Before the self-driven Montauk series, Car created captivating images per assignment for various publications. She also simultaneously worked as a darkroom analog film c-printer for many notables, including Green Naftali Gallery and MoMA.
Currently, Car is pursuing new creative ventures, for her childhood spirit is once again awakened.
